Welcome Friends!

I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a passionate educator with a strong background in literacy and child development. I earned my bachelor’s degree in education and went on to complete a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Over the years, I’ve continued to stay current with research and best practices to support children as they learn to read.

This blog is where I share practical tips, research-based strategies, and tried-and-true tricks I’ve seen work firsthand over the years. Whether you’re just starting your reading journey or looking for new ideas, my goal is to make reading feel approachable, fun, and meaningful—for both you and your child.

One of My Favorite Quotes!

“Reading is a passport to countless adventures.”

Why I Love What I Do

There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping a child transform from a hesitant, struggling reader into someone who genuinely enjoys reading. I’ve seen firsthand how discouraging it can be for kids when reading feels hard or frustrating. But I’ve also seen the magic that happens when the right support, encouragement, and strategies come together. Watching a child’s confidence grow as they improve their reading skills—and begin to pick up a book on their own—is one of the greatest joys of my work.

I love what I do because I know how powerful reading is. It opens doors not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. Helping children discover that reading can be fun, meaningful, and something they can do is what drives me every day. Whether it’s a student I’m working with directly or a parent who finds support through my blog, knowing I’ve played even a small role in a child’s reading journey is an honor I don’t take lightly.

You, My Friend

have come to the right place

Are you looking for practical, real-world guidance to help your child become a better reader. As a parent of three children—each with a completely different reading journey—I know firsthand that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. One of my kids took off with reading early, one stayed on track but wasn’t very enthusiastic about it, and one faced real struggles that required time, patience, and the right support. I understand the questions, the worries, and the wins that come with helping a child grow into a confident reader.

Here, you’ll find helpful, research-backed strategies blended with tips I’ve seen work in real homes and real classrooms. Whether your child is just starting out, needs a boost, or is ready to be challenged, my goal is to give you tools that actually make a difference. You’re not alone—and you don’t need to figure it out on your own.
